    The Department of Computer Science and Technology of Qinghai Minorities University was found in 2000. Now, there are 32 faculty members and staffs in the department, including 26 teachers, 4 administrative staffs, and 2 laboratory assistants. At present, three undergraduate program: Computer Science and Technology, Network Engineering and Electronic Commerce and two junior program: Computer Application Technology (Plane Design, Network Engineering) and Electronic Commerce are provided in the department.
    There are three teaching and research section in the department, including Network Engineering, Electronic Commerce, Basic Theory, Software Application and Public Computer. There are four laboratories in the experiment centre, including Network Engineer, Specialized laboratory, Image Processing and Electronic Commerce. The total area of laboratories of the experiment centre is about 642.77 square meters. The laboratories are equipped with more than 379 PCs. The library in the department possesses more than 1400 books and periodicals.
    There are the Institute of Network Engineering and Technology in the department, including Network Information Security Techniques, Software Development and Data Mining and Processing. The department has undertaken more than 7 projects supported by Qinghai Province and Qinghai Minorities University. The faculty members of the department received many awards for progress in science and technology, and published more than 70 papers and 11 publications in recent years.
